This kit includes a chair
The chair will be extra nice if you grind the edges.
Can be stained, waxed and painted with good results.
The Swedish golden age when it comes to designing
chairs is the style, Gustavian Rococo, which came
in the middle of the 18th century. The styles were
first developed in high-class environments, and
then moved on to the common people. Different
styles were often mixed there. And different style
elements could survive for a very long time.
Many folk chairs gained great character, and often
became a little diverse, which enhances the personality
(a face is never one-sided).
This is an unusually well-made folk chair. It was donated
to the county museum by Dr. K Bergström, from Grönskåra,
and comes from Kråksmåla. It is not known more about the
chair, but on the back of the back plate is the date 1795.
Gustavian style, rounded back, complete back plate that
has a beautifully cut checkerboard pattern with small
cut stars in the cross. Square front legs and wooden seat.
(High-end chairs of this model often had upholstered seats
and turned front legs.) Beautifully painted in light green with
a cut and painted
bow at the top of the back plate. A well-made and beautiful chair.
