The furniture carpenter Michael Thonet (1796-1871) came up with bending wood heated with steam, to build light and strong furniture. After the patent expired Gemla fabrikers AB in Diö wanted to make bentwood furniture as well. After a cautious start, Gemla AB managed to recruit some families in Bohemia who had worked with bentwood technology. They developed their own models. The Vienna model came into being at Gemla in 1908.
This miniature construction kit is made of high-quality plywood. The chairs should be put together with white wood glue.
