TIt is often believed that our stick chairs, which mostly consist of turned parts, have been the most common chair in Sweden. And perhaps that has been the case during the 20th century.
However, stick chairs began to be manufactured in the areas around Vaggeryd, by emigrants to the USA who returned home. They had seen mass production of stick chairs in the USA and brought the idea back home. Before the production of stick chairs took off, it can be said that the so-called slat chairs were our most common chair.
Slat chairs were handcrafted by the local carpenter.By counting the number of back sticks and looking at other small variations in the chair construction, one can often see where a particular slat chair comes from. This slat chair comes from Kastlösa on Öland. It is made of beech and oil-painted in a light gray-blue color.
This miniature construction kit is made of high-quality plywood. The chair should be put together with white wood glue.
